Dry Stone Walling / Walling2Recovery

Walling2Recovery at the Bathurst Estate

We are always keen to learn new skills, especially when it involves ancient methods once used by our ancestors! Dry stone walling is one of those skills that we will continue to grow in but what a great experience down in the beautiful hills of the Cotswolds, Cirencester, the Bathurst Estate to be specific, that Walling2Recovery has provided.

The main man who has put this great cause together is Army veteran and passionate dry stone Waller, Andy Dogherty. Supporting the mental health and mindfulness of military and blue light veterans. A few nights staying in a cabin environment on an old saw mill on the estate was also an awesome part to the experience, whilst learning the fundamentals of traditional drystone walling, reworking this 120+ year old wall. Absolutely great few days!

With Chris being an Army veteran himself, after a few years now into the journey of recovery into civilian life whilst battling ptsd, finally getting involved with projects relative to our field with other veterans is something that we will continue to focus on and we definitely look forward to seeing Andy again soon for a few more wet and windy days out in the sticks for sure! If any one reading this feels inspired or knows a relative or loved one that fits the criteria please feel free to get in touch with Andy via the link below. You will also find more information on this on the Bathurst Estates website.
